Hypo
Posted: November 9th, 2007 | Author: Julie | Filed under: Baby Brussel | No Comments »Danny has had an up and down day with regard to oxygen, he was in oxygen all night and then his nurse today weaned him in to air until he fell asleep at lunch time and then he went back into oxygen. He has been quite tired and washed out but still in his self he has been quite happy and playful at times. He finally opened his bowels which made him scream as it tore him a little with the constipation so now he is a bit tender down there, bless him.
His doctor came to see me and explained they had grown Pseudomonas which he always grows, which could indicate why he is requiring oxygen but if they were to treat it then they would have to give him intravenous IV antibiotic’s and he hasn’t got great access to his veins. If they did this, his MRSA would almost certainly come back. I personally feel this is not the cause, I don’t feel it is a diaphragmatic hernia at present now but I don’t believe it is this because looking at it logically he became unwell when we was a) spending time off, b) after he had his flu vaccination so one or the other has to be the reason. Tonight his consultant prescribed him a sabutamol neb which sent Daniel into a major hypo session, it was quite amusing to watch. This was done after they had examined him and messed about trying a higher peep which they said made no diiference to the way his chest sounded but he was crackly at the bottom of his lungs which could suggest that time off his ventilator made this happen and then because of this he can’t cough his secretions up as easy, which to me would seem to make some sense. The neb seemed to work somewhat as his sats were higher and at present he is asleep and still in air so we shall wait and see. It still remains a bit of a mystery why he is not unwell but well, he is happy but not right. He never has made things easy, some will say he gets that from me.
Rob and I went to Tom’s parental consultation today and again his teacher spoke highly of his achievements since he has started nursery. He has calmed down alot both at home and at school. He concentrates more and he is doing well with his numbers and writing. They said he is on target for starting school next year. Well done Tommy, keep up the fantastic work and thank you for being a good boy.
