After a morning spent mowing the lawn as it was actually sunny for a change we took Dan to the park on our very first outing as a family. Kyle, Brides and Tom kept trying to make Dan laugh all the time and succeeded on several occassions, infact it is the only time I have seen him in his pushchair/outside and we have not had to work for a smile as he is always so intense when he is outside, taking everything in. We were off the unit for a total of two hours in the end, we only went back because he was due back on his feed. I felt a little bit nervous which is cool with me as I think it will keep me on my toes. Dan was as good as gold and the kids loved having Dan at the park. No one really noticed anything different about him either, we were just another family!

It was a dream come true for all of us.

Dan has also made progress in other ways today, he has a peep on cpap of 9 down form 10. He is still without oxygen but because of the powerful anti biotic he is on, the bile out put now is near 30 mls per kilo of his body weight so he had half of it replaced so his electrolytes are still within normal limits. The drs were talking about doing blood tests but now he doesn’t have a central line I would really prefer they didn’t. Keep up the good work Dan.
