Dan has had a good day today, he is still snotty but still manages a smile for us. He is still in oxygen but it has come down to 0.2 which isn’t alot at all. Since being on Nutrini he hasn’t had a regular bowel motion so there was some concern as to whether he might be constipated but then he obliged just as we were leaving so we left that one for his nurse.
Tom has been entertaining Dan again which is just so cute to see. Yes Tom and cute do go together occasionally.
I was approached today by Dan’s consultant and apparently his head isn’t in proportion to the rest of him, Rob has said that for months so it wasn’t really a surprise. They asked if they could measure mine, Rob’s and Tom’s head to compare. Rob’s was 57.8, mine was 52 and Tom’s was 50. Kyle and Bridie also have big heads so I think it is safe to say, he is just a Franklin! I asked the consultant about Dan moving from PICU with regard to the MRSA and they said he will probably stay where he is on the main bay along with other patients who will be nursed at the opposite end of the unit. This confuses Rob and I because when we were first told of the colonising MRSA Dan was moved into the cubicle and we were told he would remain there until he went home as he couldn’t be in the same air space as other sick patients and now they say the opposite but this could all change tomorrow so watch this space.
Dan is coming home again for the afternoon tomorrow which we are really looking forward too although the goal posts have been changed as Dan now has to have infection control say whether he can go home just because the MRSA has been strained. Surely MRSA is MRSA and if they say no tomorrow then surely they are saying no to his discharge. It does my head in that it is different from one day to the next. What was said last week may no longer apply. Sometimes it just feel like they want to make it harder for us than it already is. I don’t think they understand just how hard it is to keep going everyday when we still have to deal with everyday life aswell. The car has also got to be risk assessed even though Dan has already been in it. It’s all bull, he is our baby and it feels like we have no say.
