After a morning spent mowing the lawn as it was actually sunny for a change we took Dan to the park on our very first outing as a family. Kyle, Brides and Tom kept trying to make Dan laugh all the time and succeeded on several occassions, infact it is the only time I have seen him in his pushchair/outside and we have not had to work for a smile as he is always so intense when he is outside, taking everything in. Tango-ed!!!

Dan Dan is now back on the mend, he is back in air but he is very sleepy. His bile output has increased again so there is definitely something going on inside his little body. He is still on anti biotic and so everything is orange, his wee, his poo, his snot and his bile. Anybody who saw him would think he had been “tango-ed”. Read the rest of this entry »

Better Days

Posted: July 25th, 2007 | Author: Julie | Filed under: Baby Brussel | No Comments »

Today Dan has had a much better day. His oxygen has been weaned down and his gastric losses have halfed. He has been happy and smiley again so we took him for a walk to the university park. He has eaten solids at lunch and tea for the first time ever, he never gags anymore which is so amazing. When I think of how he was to begin with I am so proud of him. Now he just has to stop gagging at having his teeth brushed. Read the rest of this entry »

Bugs

Dan has not been very well today, he has had a temperature and been crying alot when his analgesia has wore off. When he has had paracetamol or brufen he has been smiling and playing but is really not himself. His gastric losses have doubled and are yellow instead of green. He is still in oxygen so he had a chest x-ray taken as he is usually in air and the consultant on today felt after looking at this that it would be good for Daniel to be on anti biotic which worries me alot Read the rest of this entry »

The Magic Curtain

Today Dan has been happy at times but grumpy too. I think he is just tired at the moment as he is still in 0.05 of oxygen and sleeping more. Rob played with him alot today which Dan loved. It is so nice to see the rapore he has with him, makes my heart melt.

The Kids have gone to stay at Robs sisters till Tuesday which is nice of her as it is good to get a break so Thank you from us.

Rob, me and Dans nurse took him for a walk today just to the jubilee campus but it was great to get some air as being on the unit at the moment is getting to us. We feel like we are doing something wrong when we are not down the bottom end of the unit for instance when we go to the toilet. Read the rest of this entry »

Quarantine

Posted: July 21st, 2007 | Author: Julie | Filed under: Baby Brussel | No Comments »

Danny has had a good couple of days, he has been happy and very smiley and developing well. Everytime I went to sit him up he went to stand, it was so funny.Yesterday I stood him on his turtle toy and he looked like he was surfing and everytime one particular doctor came near him he just beamed with smiles. Although today I did drop a box of half empty tissues on his head when the physio wanted to wipe his still snotty nose, I passed them expecting them to take the box but they didn’t and I let go and it hit Dan on the head. He was not impressed as he cried and held his breath for quite sometime which made him desat to 59%. Read the rest of this entry »

Confused

Posted: July 18th, 2007 | Author: Julie | Filed under: Baby Brussel | No Comments »

Dan has had a good day today, he is still snotty but still manages a smile for us. He is still in oxygen but it has come down to 0.2 which isn’t alot at all. Since being on Nutrini he hasn’t had a regular bowel motion so there was some concern as to whether he might be constipated but then he obliged just as we were leaving so we left that one for his nurse. Nice to see you

We had a lovely few days in Cornwall and the weather was good apart from Sunday and early hours this morning. This morning it was thunder and lightening and then at 5am Kyle decided he needed the toilet so Rob opened up the tent to a porch full of water so he then had to mop up, not a happy camper! We had to be off the pitch by 11am but Rob kept getting business calls so it was more like half past 11 when we left, the women was fine about it though. Rob had the task of putting the tent away and it wasn’t an easy one, especially as the ground was so mudding. After a 6 hr trek home and 6 toilet stops for the children, we finally arrived home at half 6 in the evening. Rob took me straight to the hospital to see Dan Dan. Read the rest of this entry »
