Danny has continued with his upward trend and has been doing really well the last few days. Julie has been taking a more active role in his cares by starting to do suctioning on him as well as administering his medications, under the supervision of a nurse of course. There has been no further talks of him coming home however these things take a long time once it is put in the hands of management and burocrats so we will have to wait and see what happens. Julie was told today that his pushchair should be ready in the next couple of weeks which will mean that we will finally be able to take him out for something as simple as a walk, which you just take for granted but would be just amazing to be able to do right now. He also seems to be getting over the worst of his cold now although a few nurses have suggested that he may
be teething which is quite plausible as he is just chewing on his hands. The problem with him getting over his cold is that he is getting a lot of secretions so needs quite a bit more suctioning but I suppose that it gives Jules some training
. They have also clamped off his gastrostomy again today as his broviac line, which gives his med’s centrally, is starting to get old and is only needed for one of his drugs now. Ideally they would to see this removed but until they can safely clamp off his gastrostomy this cannot be removed. When they have tried this before it has resulted in him being sick but today he didn’t but he was very niggly and seemed to be suffering with his reflux. Today he’s been out on a playmat on the floor which once again is a first for little Danny and he really seemed to enjoy it and I know that Jules enjoyed doing something normal with him. Lets hope things on the up.
