Chugin’ along

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

Well as you may have gathered we are not still waiting for him to come back as that would be marathon surgery!! As it was it got too late last night and were both exhausted so the plan was to post in the morning, except there was a power cut and the website was down til this afternoon. Anyhow just wanted to quickly let you all know that he’s doing really well and has come off the ventilator and onto CPAP so hes breathing for himself. I’ll post a full update later this evening complete with a little waffle message from us to some special people out there.

The waiting game

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

Danny went off for his operation at about 9am this morning and we are just waiting now for him to come back.  The surgeon didn’t get here until about 8.30am so I didn’t get to see him before I had to leave to pick Tom up, so as yet I’ve still not met the surgeon but I’m sure I will.  So here we wait til Dan gets back

Rolling on

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

Well today has been nothing if not eventful, I went down to see Danny on my way out to work at 8.30 this morning and he’d had a settled night so all was well. Next thing I get a call from Julie about 11am asked if I knew that they were planning on taking Dan to the Queens today, which of course I didn’t.  The plan, it was explained, was to transfer him today and operate tomorrow morning I just think that they maybe forgot to tell us until it was about time to go, but then this is starting to become the “norm”. So as Julie explained to them we were supposed to be meeting with a nurse from the Queens at 5.30pm today and discussing the PICU and then viewing PICU before Danny was moved, (more…)

Happy Halloween

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Not wanting to be one to miss out on the fun Danny entered into the spirit, or at least the skeleton, of halloween.  He’s spent the whole day in his costume though he had to lose the hat as he started getting a little hot.  In himself there has been no real change, he is still spending a lot of time “in air” except for the occastions where he throws a strop then he needs a little help.  At 5am this morning he managed to cough out his ventilator tube and had to be re-ventilated and then later this afternoon they found that the pipe was too short so he had to be retubed but overall he coped well with it.  No updates as yet on his move to the Queens for his operation but a nurse is coming to see us tomorrow evening so we’ll keep you posted.
