Danny on his trachyDan’s been doing really well since he’s had his trachy done on Thursday morning. Yesterday they were able to move him from being ventilated where it was doing the breathing for him to now being onto CPAP where he does the breathing and the machine simply gives pressure to him. Since he first got pneumonia he has not really bean on CPAP apart from a very short spell he’s been ventilated so to now be able ot move onto CPAP is amazing. The other major change is not he’s on his tachy it means that theres no hat and now we can see his face which is such a simple thing but for us it’s amazing. They are also working to balance his feeding out by increasing his milk feeds by 1ml per hour per day, this means an increase of 24ml per day overall while he is tolerating it so were starting to move forward slowly. From here, once he’s settled on his trachy, arrangements should be made for his transfer to Kings College in London as we discussed last Monday.
