After friday nights episode yesterday was a great improvement. Daniel was really settle and his oxygen requirements continued to decrease throughout the day which reached an all time low of 38%. Since he was in 100% on friday night this was a massive improvement. During the night he continued to be really settled.
When moring came though things changed once again, he was once again really unsettled and they could not seem to get his secretions under control no matter what was done. His oxygen requirments continued to climb, then by mid morning he was back to needing 100% oxygen but was only managing to hold around 84% saturations (should be round the 92% mark). After much struggling they managed to get his requirements down to 76% oxygen but this was still too much really. As soon as he is touched his sats drop dramatically and, on occasion, needs tom thumbing. He has now been given atricuin, a muscle relaxant, by infusion which should help to keep him relaxed so that the ventilator can work for him and stop him working against him. So once again thing have not improved and he is still really very poorly.
