Wash out

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Managed to sort out a new washer which the man at the shop very kindly let me take the washer home there and then rather than waiting 2 days for delivery.  Half way home I realised that theres no way I can get it out on my own and since all the neighbours are at work i’d be driving round for the afternoon with it! When the neighbour arrived him later on I got a lift out, now alls well with the washing again.

Eye problems

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Following the visit from the consultant from the Queens Medical Centre he told us that Danny has a problem with his eyes this is called Coloboma, click here for an illustration.  What it means is that his left eye has a pupil in a shape that is not to dis-similar to that of a keyhole.  The consultant has said that while it will not go away it will not cause him any problems

As if we didnt have enough to do

Well to just top things off a little, the washer has packed up! Thing is these days its gonna cost the same or more to repair it as to buy a new one…..so much for recycling.

One step forward

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Daniel is now back on the full ventilator and he’s a lot more settled now.  The doctors will leave him a while now before they try again but ultimately he need to come off sooner rather than later.  Julie sounded a lot more settled now that he is sorted out.

Two steps back

Monday, July 17th, 2006

After being on CPAP for a couple of hours Danny’s blood gases were not so good, too much Carbon Dioxide in his blood so the put him on a another nose ventilator but down the back of the throat. The doctor came round and I asked what happens if it still doesn’t improve; he told me he would be put back on the ventilator. He said that this was not unusual and they would be concerned only after repeating this 5-6 times, then they would look at other causes as to why this was happening.

More stress

Monday, July 17th, 2006

The doctors decided it was time to remove the ventilator from Danny.  After being taken from it and put onto CPAP (oxygen through the nose) he was really struggling with it.  He was really stressed out over it and was crying, Julie was really beside herself having not heard him cry to now hear him cry out in pain she was tears. The nurses told her to go back to her room to try and rest as she was exhausted only to find a note on her room door asking to come to the reception.  They told her that they needed her to move room having only moved yesterday and she just broke down in tears.

All change

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Following the ward rounds the doctors have decided that they will try to take little danny off his ventilator later this afternoon as he has been settled on the low pressure all night.  They have also stopped the feeds as the tube to his stomach was bringing back brown stuff which is not good.  They’ll try again soon.

Devoted

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Just had a text from Julie at the hospital to day she has just left Danny and she feels guilty for leaving him.  He's had more secretions which have had to be sucked out. She is forever the devoted mum and she really is exhausted

Tom’s day out

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Once again Tom is off visiting so that I can get some time at the hospital, today he's off to Uncle Daz and Auntie Denise.  He spent most of the day playing in the paddling pool with Joe and was bouncing off the trampoline into the paddling pool!!! Does he really have no fear!?
