We have just come back from the scan….wow. We went down to the scanning room, once again TV crew in toe, not really knowing what to hope for. The professor had told us on previous patients there had been an improvement in lung size within a matter of hours but this is not always the case. Once we were in the scanning room and the TV crew had organised the room just the way they wanted it (John, what a legend), the professor came in. He began the scan and showed that the lungs were showing, clearly for the first time our little miracle was showing two lungs clearly, the feeling was overwhelming. The professor went on to explain that Brussels development following the procedure was incredible far better in fact than they had expected. He then went on to tell us that if he continued with this type of development he has no reason to think that he will not survive. Jules was totally overcome with the emotion that had been born from all the worry, doubts, fears and shear gravity of what was happening. I knew that I had to be “a rock”, all I could do was to hug her I couldn’t believe that something was finally going our way at last. The TV crew and Ben left us alone to gather ourselves after such a rollercoaster ride it was just so much to take in, evan now some 2 hours later it just seems so incredible that less than 12 hours ago his chances were only 1 in 10 now he has in excess of 50%. The words escape me all I can say is the Professor, Ben and their team are real legends in their field, all of this would not have been possible without the work that they have pioneered; a simple cannot evan begin to express how grateful we are for all their work. We know there is more to go but we have already come such a long way….thank you all.
